Taiwan's flag carrier, China Airlines, currently operates 10 Boeing 777-300ERs or 77w in short. Among them, there's only one wearing a special livery: B-18007's Boeing Livery.
Though seen her causing in the sky, I actually didn't take a decent photo before. Finally, she came to JFK this week, looks like a giant whale sitting on the apron.
Taking her photo at JFK is like a gamble. Since she arrives and leaves at night, taking photos during taxiing or landing is tremendously hard. Additionally, since the boarding gate varies daily and do not publish in advance, sometimes we came to the airport and saw her go to another unwanted gate. After failing several times, she ultimately came to a place that could take photos.
Boarding gates 3, 5, and 7 at Terminal 4 are ideal gates for night shots. You take to set up tripods at the parking lot nearby Terminal 5. For those wide bodies parking at gates 3 and 5, telelens are not recommended, a lens of approximately 50mm is ideal to avoid merging into panorama during post-processing. However, using a telelens to take a close-up picture is also brilliant.
It's interesting that every logo, the iconic plum blossom, on the China Airlines' vertical tail, is painted by hand, making them unique and different from others.
It's windy in JFK at night, so wind-proof utilities are recommended, at least for your cameras during exposure.
